DATA USAGE TIPS: ANDROID
REDUCE YOUR DATA WITH MINIMAL IMPACT TO HOW YOU USE YOUR PHONE
How much data are you using on your Android right now?
• On your Android, go to Settings > Wireless & Networks > Data Usage. On this screen you can turn off mobile data, so that no data is used unless you are on WiFi.
• Some common high data offenders include:
o Facebook, SnapChat, Netflix, Hulu
o Any other video streaming apps, when you are not connected to WiFi (i.e. driving) so those apps are not automatically downloading updates and using data.
• Recently, we have found that Location Sharing is turned on for more and more apps when installed. This can use 2-3G of data on its own.
o To reduce Location Sharing data usage, go to Settings > Security & Location > Location > Turn Use Location off.
